Well how about that folks, Lance Lynn you did it! The rookie Cardinals hurler, in a game I said the Cardinals had to win based on the upcoming series in Milwaukee, did just that. Last night’s win marked the first win for Lynn, sure he only went 5 innings, but he looked composed in those 5 innings. Unlike his first outing the defense didn’t let him down. And finally the Cardinals did not waste scoring opportunities by hitting into untimely double plays. I am also liking what I’m seeing from the pen last night, as guys like Batista and Trever Miller (who I have called out alot) rose to the occasion. And let’s not forget the bats! Albert looks more and more like the Albert we know. Ryan Theriot, after having his hit streak stopped last night got his first HR as a member of the Cardinals. And oh my Lance Berkman you did it again! That blast last night measured 416 feet, I think it’s still flying this morning. Lance is now team leader in the triple crown categories and I hope he can keep it up. If he can this could be a magical season, all things considered. So now it’s off to Milwaukee for three, and with the Brewers loss to the Mets last night the lead in the NL Central is 2.5 games. So if the Cards can take care of business, like they have practically every series this year, they should still be in first when they leave Milwaukee. Kyle Lohse takes the hill tonight, and with rumors that Matt Holliday is close to coming back, I’m encouraged. It’s nice to see the Cardinals play the way they did last night.
